Attitude and Heading Reference Systems
Airborne-Qualified AHRS for Flight Instrumentation & Autonomous Platforms
Aeron's AHRS solution is delivered through the Octantis 2 AN5300S — a tactical-grade MEMS attitude and heading reference system qualified for airborne use as a primary or standby instrument across fighter, transport and passenger aircraft, and for autonomous control in unmanned platforms.

The Attitude & Heading Sensing Challenge
Flight instrumentation and autonomous platforms need continuous, trustworthy attitude and heading data — even under vibration, shock and thermal extremes — and the software driving it must meet the same certification bar as the airframe it flies on.
Flight-Critical Reliability
Attitude and heading data must stay accurate through the full dynamic envelope of fighter, transport and UAV operation.
Certification Burden
Airborne deployment demands DO-178B software assurance, MIL-STD hardware qualification and airworthiness certification.
Independent Operation
The system must function as a standalone reference, with external aiding as an enhancement — not a dependency.
Aeron's Approach: One Certified AHRS Core
The solution is built around the Octantis 2 AN5300S — tactical-grade MEMS gyroscopes, accelerometers and a built-in magnetometer, fused through Aeron's proprietary multi-modal Extended Kalman Filter engine to deliver uninterrupted, high-performance attitude and heading data.
The same certified core can serve as a primary or standby instrument for electronic flight instrumentation and cockpit displays across fighter, transport and passenger aircraft, or drive autonomous control loops in unmanned aerial vehicles — without changing the underlying qualification or software baseline.
What the Solution Delivers
- Extended Kalman filter estimation engine
- Redundant triaxial solid-state MEMS accelerometers & gyroscopes
- External True Airspeed (TAS) aiding
- External magnetometer input
- High dynamic range up to ±450°/s and ±15g
- Functional shock sustainance 20g
How the Solution Works
Sensor inputs are fused in real time through a multi-modal Extended Kalman Filter to deliver stable attitude and heading estimates.
