A tilt sensor (inclinometer) measures the angle of a surface or machine relative to gravity. A tilt switch only reports whether a set angle has been exceeded, which is enough to cut power or raise an alarm. Both are used to keep cranes, lifts, trucks and solar trackers within safe angles.
See the Vega tilt switch.
