Soiling and soiling ratio

Soiling is the dust, sand, pollen and dirt that settles on solar modules and blocks light. The soiling ratio compares the output of a soiled reference panel with a clean one; the difference is the energy lost to dirt. Measuring it tells a plant when cleaning pays for itself.

See Aeron's soiling index measurement system.
