Assistant Engineer – EHS & QMS

Profile Summary

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant EHS & QMS Engineer to manage day-to-day Environmental, Health, and Safety operations while supporting Quality Management System compliance. This role is crucial in maintaining regulatory approvals, executing ISO/AS compliance audits, managing quality and safety documentation, and driving continuous improvement during facility expansion.

Key Responsibilities:

Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Management

  • Regulatory & Statutory Compliance:

    • Coordinate with local pollution control boards (e.g., MPCB regulations) to handle applications, renewals, and filings for Consent to Establish (CTE) and Consent to Operate (CTO).

    • Manage hazardous waste disposal records, annual returns, and regulatory filings (independently or via 3rd-party compliance consultants).

  • Workplace Safety & Risk Assessment:

    • Conduct regular safety walkthroughs, site inspections, and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA).

    • Monitor and ensure strict adherence to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines across manufacturing floors.

    • Investigate workplace incidents/near-misses, maintain incident reports, and implement corrective measures to ensure compliance with the Factory Act.

Quality Management Systems (QMS) & Audits

  • ISO / AS Standard Compliance:

    • Support implementation and maintenance of certification standards: ISO 9001 (QMS), AS9100D (Aerospace QMS), ISO 14001 (EMS), and ISO 45001 (OH&S).

    • Assist in preparation for internal and 3rd-party certification audits.

  • Audit Execution & RCA/CAPA:

    • Maintain internal audit schedules, participate as an internal auditor, and draft Non-Conformance Reports (NCR).

    • Drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using 5-Why or Fishbone tools and ensure timely tracking of Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA).

Documentation & Control:

  • Document Control: Maintain Master Document Lists, track Document Change Requests (DCR), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Instructions (WI), and quality records.

  • KPI & Metric Tracking: Compile weekly/monthly data for management reviews regarding safety KPIs, audit observations, and compliance tracking.

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/ Production/ Environmental or Safety Engineering.

  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing facility handling QMS documentation, ISO audits, and factory safety protocols.

Required Technical & Soft Skills:

  • Standards Awareness: Working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100D, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.

  • Problem Solving: Basic knowledge of quality tools (5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, 8D Methodology).

  • Tools: Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for tracking and reporting.

  • Communication: Clear oral and written communication for liaising with external auditors, consultants, and internal teams.
